My Addiction: A Level 16 Agents Review of Marvel: Avengers Alliance | Gretchen Weber

After having played for 5 hours straight I knew that Marvel: Avengers Alliance had me hook , line, and sinker.  This Facebook game is hype build-up for the film Avengers, which comes to theaters May 4.  Personally I think this is a great scheme. The game is intelligently designed, incorporating classic villains and heroes who combat each other.  In the game the players themselves are agents and team-up with superheroes such as Iron Man and Black Widow to defeat evil thugs from taking over the world!  Throughout the game agents and superheroes alike can be leveled up by gaining “Experience Points.”  These points accumulate through fighting more and more.  The player gains money, and extra points as they play which pays for new weapons, and research.  The catch?  The player has a limited amount of energy they can use.  Each time they go on a “mission,” in other words go and fight some evil villain, energy is used to deploy the heroes, and the player either has to ask friends to send them more or wait several hours.  Now one might say, just have their friends send them an unlimited amount of energy, but this is not the case.  There is also a quota of gifts a player can receive for the day, and these “gifts” can vary from not only energy, but health packs, bombs, or shields that can be used during battle.  So in essence there is much to choose from.  Overall this game is a hit with players, and hopefully will stay online long after the film has been shown.  For I’m not really sure what I’d do without it….
