The week of April 21-28 2012, The Ohio State University hosted their 34th Annual African American Heritage Festival. This year’s theme was Misisimko, Passion Never Fades and Ambition Never Ends.
Students at The Ohio State University take pride in this festival. Hundreds of students, faculty and staff come together to celebrate these joyous festivities.
This year’s events included the vendor’s fair kick off, community service, and a gospel fest featuring recording artist Tonya Baker. This event also included a very informative town hall forum, poetry slam, Soul Time: The Talent Show, a wellness summit, and several Mahogany Moments. The Mahogany Moments included an elegant dance, and OSU reads, where students come together to promote literacy to young children. The 25th Annual National Pan-Hellenic Council Step Show took place which was hosted by Youtube sensation SpokenReasons.
The African American Heritage Festival which just wrapped up their last event Saturday night. Overall the whole week was a success. This week-long event is hosted by the Multicultural Center and co-sponsored by various departments, student organizations and hall councils at The Ohio State University.
