With the weather warming up and the sun making its
reappearance, finally, it’s tempting to go out and get your tan on. Everyone looks good with a little color but
too much is not good (e.g., Jersey Shore…).
Cancer doesn’t look good on many people, either.
To stay safe in the sun this spring and summer follow these
quick and easy tips:
-Put sunscreen on!
Sunscreen is built into some foundations now, for you girls. It’s best not to use the 5 SPF but more like
25 or 30. Higher if you have fair skin!
-Don’t lay out in the sun between 10 am and 3 pm. That’s when it’s hottest and the sun is
reaching its peak. The UV light rays
that cause skin damage are strongest then.
If you must lay out, do it in the evening or the morning.
-Don’t go to the tanning bed!! It’s not good for you!
-Wear sunglasses or a hat to protect your eyes! Those sneaky UVs can damage your eyesight.
-Wear tightly woven fabrics… the sun’s light can’t get
through that as easily as it can through loosely woven fabric. If you can see light through it, the sun can
get through too. You know what that
means: sunburn!
So, make a few small changes and reduce your risk of
permanently damaging your skin! Go enjoy
the sun!
