Why Can’t We Ever Be Satisfied? | Hannah Chenetski

“I want to go home, I hate school.” “I want to go back to school, I hate being home.” Sound familiar? We all say it and we know we do. So, my question is, why can’t we ever just be satisfied with where we’re at? We want the best of both worlds, mom’s homemade cooking and our nice big beds, but on the other hand we want the freedom and our college life. So here’s my proposition: have both!
I suggest that when you go home for the summer, talk to your parents. Talk to them about how you’re in college and although you’re home for the summer you think your curfew should be waived, or just pushed back further. Ask them for more freedom, but prove to them that you deserve it. Face it: you will always be their little baby boy or girl so they will ALWAYS be protective of you. Just show them that you’re responsible enough to handle new responsibilities.
Invite your college friends to your hometown for a long weekend! Show them around your town and brag about your awesome childhood. Don’t forget about your college friends while you’re home this summer because when you come back you want to be able to pick up right where you left off in June.
Focus on the present at all times! The more you focus on the past or the future the less you’ll really enjoy life. Be happy with where you’re at and live in the moment! Enjoy your time at college and enjoy your time at home, without focusing on the other.
