My two favorite places to eat,
after giving so much of campus food a try, are Marketplace and the Mirror Lake
Creamery and Grill. However, in order to be more decisive about life as a
whole, I realized I had to compare these two great establishments and give a
verdict on which are worth the swipes.
The
first factor to consider is distance. Marketplace, as everyone in SSP knows, is
close enough to the buildings the only thing better would be having room
service. On bad days, it is just a skip and hop away. However, for those
wanting to preemptively burn calories may prefer the walk to the Creamery &
Grill, which can be quite enjoyable in the right conditions, and has several
nice spots to eat outside right next to titular Mirror Lake.
The
second factor is food variety. With a café, grocery store, and several
different stations, Marketplace has a wide variety of foods available at all
times. The only time I feel their variety is a bad thing is when they rotate
chicken noodle out of the soup selection. Mirror Lake, by comparison, has
relatively little, though there is still usually enough variety to satisfy your
group of friends.
The
third factor is food quality. Marketplace has several good meals, but I
personally cannot resist a well-made burger, and grant Mirror Lake Creamery and
Grill, with its heavy contenders, supreme and total dominance in this area.
In
conclusion, it’s still a tie. But I would encourage anyone who has not yet
eaten there to try out the Creamery & Grill’s sundaes.
